The Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom) has warned RaajjeTV that the private TV station will be slapped with harsh penalties if it continues to broadcast content that could harm the dignity of a child.
The warning was issued by BroadCom on September 9, after it finished an inquiry that the commission initiated regarding the “MDP Kulli Evvun” that RaajjeTV broadcasted on the night of March 12, after finding it included content that could potentially harm the rights and dignity of children.
The decision was shared by BroadCom on Monday.
According to BroadCom, it had offered RaajjeTV a chance to defend themselves, but the TV station did not provide a statement and chose to question the commission.
The commission decided RaajjeTV had violated the standard for prevention of broadcasting audio and video content that would infringe on or harm the dignity or honor of an individual, as well as the broadcasting guideline for protection of children.
BroadCom warned that it will impose harsh penalties on RaajjeTV if it repeats such an act, based on nature and seriousness of the violation.
RaajjeTV has been repeatedly penalized by BroadCom over the years.
