President Dr Muizzu Meets Amir of Qatar, Reaffirms Maldives’ Support Amid Regional Tensions

His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu was granted an audience today with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, at the Sheraton Doha Hotel.
During the meeting, President Muizzu extended his condolences for the loss of lives in the recent Israeli attack on Qatar, strongly condemning the violation of Qatari sovereignty. He reaffirmed the Maldives’ solidarity with the Government and people of Qatar and expressed support for its efforts to uphold regional peace and stability.
President Muizzu also praised Qatar’s leadership in hosting the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, recognising its sustained efforts in mediation and humanitarian support for Palestine.
The leaders engaged in discussions to enhance bilateral cooperation across sectors of mutual interest. President Muizzu expressed appreciation for Qatar’s ongoing support to the Maldives, including in development and infrastructure.
Both leaders concluded the meeting by affirming their commitment to deepen Maldives–Qatar relations and stressed the importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah. They also reiterated their support for a just and peaceful two-state solution, advocating for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
