Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has stated that the relationship between Maldives and China was strong, close and mutually beneficial to both nations.
He made the statement speaking in the ceremony held in Hotel Jen to mark the 66th Chinese national day.
Minister Saeed stated that China is a key partner in Maldivian development. He also stated that the two nations will cooperate on projects that will benefit the two nations. Minister Saeed said that Maldives will collaborate with China on the One Belt One Route project and in sustainable development.
He also expressed his hope that the free trade agreement between the two nations will be realized and the benefits passed onto the public. He added that he wished to see stronger ties between Chinese public and Maldivian public. Minister Saeed cited that the China Maldives Friendship Bridge was a sign of these ties and wished to see that the bridge will be finished soon. He also noted that China was the largest market for the tourism sector accounting for 33 percent of arrivals.
Minister Saeed thanked the Chinese Government and people for their continued assistance and expressed his hopes for a stronger relationship between the two nations.
