Non-Resident Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the Maldives, Her Excellency Vithaya Xayavong, presented her Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.
The Ambassador was escorted in a traditional 'Haiykolhu' cultural procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
The President accepted the Letter of Credence and formally welcomed Her Excellency Vithaya Xayavong as the Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Following the ceremony, the President and the Ambassador reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and discussed exploring new avenues of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Laos were established on 10 February 2012.
