President Dr Mohamed Muizzu appointed Supreme Court Justice Hussain Shaheedh as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC). The appointment ceremony was held at the President’s Office on Monday morning.
During the ceremony, the President presented the appointment letter to Justice Hussain Shaheedh, who signed his appointment letter upon being sworn in.
The President made the appointment per Article 158(b) of the Constitution and Article 3(2) of the Judicial Service Commission Act, appointing Shaheed in the capacity of a Judge of the Supreme Court, exluding the Chief Justice, elected by the Supreme Court.
Prior to his appointment, Justice Hussain Shaheedh took his oath in the presence of the President, with Supreme Court Justice Dr Mohamed Ibrahim administering the oath. Following the ceremony, he signed the oath of office as well.
Supreme Court Justice Hussain Shaheedh, a seasoned legal professional, has also served as the High Court's Chief Judge and Judge at the Criminal Court. He holds a Master of Islamic Judicial Science, Sharia Policy, and Jurisprudence and Law, LLB.
