Maldives Investment Forum begins in China

The Investment Forum organised by the Maldivian government is under way in Beijing, China.
An official of Ministry of Economic Development who is presently in China told Sun Media that Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed will speak at the inauguration ceremony.
Saeed said prior to his departure to China that this year’s forum is expected to be more successful than last year’s, which was held in Singapore.
It will be attended by over 700 companies from China, Singapore, Australia, India, Sri Lanka, and more; as well as 150 companies from Maldives.
The forum will include a panel discussion by financial and legal experts.
Saeed said focus would be on financial, banking, real estate, and transport sectors, and high priority projects include the reclamation project under phase 2 of Hulhumalé Development Project, a sports complex project, and a stadium project.
Information would also be provided at the forum to investors on financial sector opportunities in the Maldives.
The government has received assistance from China in the organisation of the forum, and news related to the forum would be covered by 30 Chinese media groups, said Saeed.
