Maldives-Germany conveyed optimism on strengthening bilateral ties during official talks

As part of President Dr Mohamed Muzzu’s official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany at the invite of President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, official talks were held between the two heads of state.
The talks were held at the official residence of the President of Germany, ‘Schloss Bellevue’
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and dialogue in areas of mutual interest between the Maldives and Germany. Both leaders conveyed optimism that the bilateral ties between the two nations will continue to strengthen.
The President will visit Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where he will speak on the Maldives’ experience in climate change adaptation. He is also due to address the German Council on Foreign Relations, presenting the Maldives’ perspective on the role of the ocean in foreign policy.
The visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Germany, which were formally established on 5 July 1966.
