The Maldives and Germany held official talks during the ongoing official visit by His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to the Federal Republic of Germany from 9 to 13 February 2026.
President Dr Muizzu’s visit marks the first official visit by a Maldivian President at the invitation of the President of Germany, and coincides with the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The official talks took place this morning at Schloss Bellevue, the official residence of the President of Germany. The talks were led by President Dr Muizzu and His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of Germany, with senior members of the governments of the Maldives and Germany in attendance.
Discussions focused on diversifying mutually beneficial cooperation on bilateral and multilateral fronts through increased high-level dialogue and formal agreements.
