Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has extended the deadline to submit nominations for the party's ticket to compete in the upcoming local council elections.
In a tweet, the main opposition party said the deadline has been extended until January 24. This is the third deadline given by the party to submit nominations.
PPM has decided to compete for all the seats in the council elections and has also launched a nationwide campaign. Apart from PPM, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and Jumhooree Party (JP) from the ruling coalition have also decided to run for all the seats in the elections.
Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has scheduled to hold the local council elections on April 4.
