Heritage Minister calls for museums in resorts to promote cultural heritage

Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage Heena Waleed has said it is important to establish museums in resorts that showcase the country’s cultural heritage.
She made the remarks while speaking to PSM News during a visit to the Maldives Discovery Centre at Crossroads Maldives.
The minister praised the centre as a good example of an interactive, educational tourism attraction that presents cultural and historical information in an engaging way. She said such museums in resorts would help tourists better understand the country’s history, culture, traditions, and way of life.
The minister also said these types of attractions can help educate schoolchildren and young people about national language and heritage. She encouraged the private sector to include more initiatives that promote Dhivehi language, culture, and traditions.
The government has outlined three heritage-sector policies: monetising heritage, integrating it into public experiences, and digitising heritage for future generations.
