Bangladesh Foreign Minister arrives for Independence Day celebrations

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, Dr Khalilur Rahman arrived in the Maldives on 25 July to join the independence day celebrations.
He was warmly received by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Iruthisham Adam along with senior officials of the Ministry.
The visit, running from 25 to 27 July, marks Dr Khalilur Rahman’s first official trip to the Maldives since assuming office on 17 February and coincides with the 61st anniversary of the Maldives’ independence.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during his visit, the Bangladeshi minister is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and hold bilateral talks with Minister Iruthisham.
The discussions will centre on deepening the long‑standing partnership between the two island nations, reviewing the full scope of cooperation and identifying new avenues for collaboration, the Ministry said.
Both ministers are also expected to exchange perspectives on regional and international developments, reaffirming their commitment to continued coordination within multilateral forums, it added.
According to the Ministry, the visit marks a significant milestone in further strengthening the longstanding and cordial relations between the Maldives and Bangladesh, and sets the stage for enhanced cooperation in the years ahead.
