President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has asserted that no state agency can infringe on the rights assured to the country’s citizens under the Constitution. He made the remark while delivering the Presidential Address at the Parliament opening session on Thursday.
In his address, President Muizzu said the people should have the freedom to do whatever they wish to do, as long it is not prohibited by the Constitution and laws.
"I believe that every citizen has the freedom, the right to do whatever is not prohibited by the Constitution and the law. Their civil and constitutional rights cannot be infringed upon by the government or any state institution," he said.
President Muizzu emphasised that the role of the government and state institutions is to maintain the rule of law within the framework of the Constitution and the law.
