Minister at President's Office Adam Rameez, who had been on suspension, has been dismissed today.
President's Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed confirmed the dismissal today.
Rameez was placed on suspension on June 27. Along with him, his ex-wife Fathimath Shamnaz Ali Saleem, who is a State Minister at the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy was also suspended from duties.
Shamnaz was suspended after she, as well as her sister and an additional individual, were arrested on charges of sorcery. Rameez was not implicated in this investigation as far as is known.
They have all been released from remand in custody, with the Prosecutor General's Office announcing yesterday that they have decided to drop all charges against them citing lack of evidence.
Rameez earlier worked at the Male' City Council when President Muizzu had been Mayor of the city, having been a close associate of his. He was amongst the first to be appointed to a political position at the President's Office. Although he was earlier prominently seen at government events, he has been absent from the public eye in recent months.
