Maldivian National football team’s captain Ali Ashfaq (Dhangadey) will not be playing in the team against tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier game against China.
While Ashfaq is not expected to play in tomorrow’s game against China، he had not attended the training camp held in Philippines as the player stayed back in Malé to attend a family emergency.
Ashfaq who had finished the season at the Malaysian League arrived in Malé recently and stated that although he could not attend the training camp at Philippines he will be playing the match against China.
Maldivian national football team had played two games in the World Cup qualifier so far، out of which they faced defeat in both games. They got beaten from Hong Kong and Qatar. Meanwhile China had also played two previous games in the qualifier، in which they emerged victorious against Bhutan with the second game ending in a tie with Hong Kong.
The group in which Maldives lies، has Hong Kong dominates it with 7 points with Qatar landing in second spot with 6 points. China is at third place with 4 points، while Maldives and Bhutan had not secured a point on their end، Maldives is at fourth spot with goal difference.
The World Cup qualifying game against China will take place at 16:35hrs in Maldivian local time.
