Jumhooree Party and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has stated that they will return to the streets if their 13 demands to the government are not met.
The biggest rally ever held in Maldives was concluded by the Jumhooree Party and MDP tonight at about 18:00.
Previously the biggest gathering was the mass rally of “23 December”. However it is noted that the people converged today in Male’ at the “In defense of the constitution” gathering was much more than those who participated in the 23 December rally.
Reports say that many people from the islands who were planning to come to Male’ to participate in the gathering did not come when some pictures of the Police with weapons were spread in the social media.
The participants called the government to release former Defence Minister colonel (retired) Mohamed Nazim, former President Mohamed Nasheed and Medhu-Henveiru constituency MP Ali Azim without any condition.
