Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said that holding various shows with performers wearing translucent clothing cannot be accepted.
Dr. Shaheem made this remark in the TVM’s last night’s edition of the Raajje Miadhu expressing his concerns regarding the Tourism Countdown show held by the government recently.
Dr. Shaheem said that he does not accept it and even informed the President about his concerns regarding the show.
“I am the minister therefore I am required to proclaim the truth sincerely. I believe that the President will not give anyone such opportunities to hold such shows. That is what I believe,” he said.
Dr Shaheem said that he personally does not believe that it is permissible to stray away from Islamic morality to achieve political agendas.
“It is not something I accept. I did not accept it yesterday. I do not accept it today. I will not accept it tomorrow as well,” he said.
Dr. Shaheem said that entertainment can be enjoyed within the confines of the Islamic Sharia and it is not from the behavior of the Muslim to go beyond bounds in anything including entertainment.
