Keyodhoo constituency MP Sheikh Moosa Nizar said that it is a big problem if the people are to become refugees in their own land. He said that this will be the state of the people of less populated islands next year as per the state budget.
Speaking at the Majlis, Sheikh Moosa Nizar said that it is saddening that the state budget does not include anything for people of less populated islands. He said that the government has been discriminating them from many services.
“It is a 24.3 billion Ruffiya budget. Billion Ruffiya has been allocated for PSIP. However, I would say that this is a zero budget. It will be not be an injustice to say that,” he said.
Moosa Nizar said that the people of Vaavu Atoll are living in despair and even more severe is the state of the people of Rakeedhoo.
He said that the government should take responsibility for this sad state of the people. He said that this discrimination of the less populated islands should be stopped and equality and justness should be established.
