The Health Sector of Maldives is currently spearheading، claimed acting Minister of Health Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim.
Health Sector of Maldives is improving day by day، said Minister Nazim during the ceremony held on Sunday to announce the grading of health service centers in Maldives.
“Health services system of Maldives is spearheading. In Sha Allah، without looking back، we will achieve all the milestones we need in health sector.” Minister Nazim said.
He highlighted that the milestone of providing a doctor to every island has been achieved and that by the end of next year، a pharmacy will be established in every island in the country.
“A doctor has been allocated for every island. Sometimes، a doctor may be on vacation، and it does not mean a doctor is not there. Few islands may not have a doctor، but the neighbouring islands will have a doctor specified for those islands as well.” he said.
In collaboration with the Government، STO has opened pharmacies in 43 islands now.
Even though the health sector has improved، Minister Nazim highlighted the increase in infectious and non infectious diseases in Maldives.
Furthermore، he mentioned the completed and ongoing ventures of the Government to improve the health sector.
“Government have shown concerns to improve the health sector of Maldives. There are 85 ventures in the Government’s Manifesto. These 85 ventures show that Government will empower and improve the health sector.” Acting Health Minister said.
An estimate of 4.81 billion Rufiya was included for the ventures of Health Sector، in the Budget proposed to the parliament for the year 2015.
