China to send desalination vessel، airlift water

Fisheries Minister Mohamed Shiny has said that China has agreed to airlift packaged water and to send a vessel capable of desalinating water to ease the current water crisis in Malé.
Minister Shiny’s tweet said that China has agreed to airlift water on every flight between the two countries.

Earlier، a presidential press release said that China and the United States have also agreed to send aid.
As is often the case، India was the first to send aid، with 2 cargo aircrafts airlifting aid today – one at 1331hrs and another at 1540، carrying 22 tons and 28 tons respectively. India agreed to provide 150 tons of drinking water.
Sri Lanka، who agreed to airlift aid on all commercial flights، sent the first shipment not too long ago.
An Indian navy vessel has also arrived in Male’ with aid.
