Maldives has received an official invitation to participate in the upcoming International Quran Competition, scheduled to take place in August 2025 in the Kingdom of Morocco. In light of this, the National Center for Holy Quran has announced the opening of applications to select representatives for the event.
Categories of Participation:
1. Full Quran Memorization with Tajweed and Tafseer
- Participants must recite the entire Quran from memory, adhering to Tajweed rules, and demonstrate understanding of selected Tafseer from the 7th and 8th parts.
Requirements:
- Certified Hafiz
- Fluency in Arabic
- Proficient in Tajweed
2. Recitation of Five Consecutive Hizb with Tajweed (Without Reading)
- Participants are required to recite five consecutive Hizb (equivalent to 2.5 parts) from memory following proper Tajweed principles.
- Preference will be given to those who have memorized the Quran and can identify Hizb divisions.
General Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a Maldivian citizen aged between 10 and 40 years (as per the Islamic calendar)
- Must not be a widely recognized Qari in the Maldives
- Must not have previously participated in this competition
- Open to both male and female participants
Participants will be selected through an evaluation process conducted by the National Center for Holy Quran. If a selected candidate is under 18 years of age, visually impaired, or has special needs, one guardian may accompany them to the competition.
