The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments is currently implementing 79 development projects across the Maldives, the ministry has said.
According to the ministry, the projects are aimed at strengthening Islamic infrastructure and services nationwide. These projects include 45 mosque construction and development projects, 12 Islamic Centre projects, 16 National Centre for the Holy Quran projects, and 6 Waqf building construction projects.
The ministry said it is working diligently to ensure the timely and efficient implementation of these projects for the benefit of communities throughout the Maldives as Islamic sector development continues across the country.
Among the most significant projects currently underway are the construction of the Dhaarul Arqam Building in Male’ and the Dhaarussalam Waqf Building in Hulhumale’. In addition, the ministry is actively working to commence the physical construction of the Hulhumale’ Grand Mosque by September this year. Funding for the Hulhumalé Grand Mosque project has already been secured through international support. Upon completion, the mosque will become the largest mosque in the Maldives.
