The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy has launched Vilunveshi Grant Programme.
The programme, launched during the “Adapting to Climate Change Seminar”, is part of the “Enhancing Climate Resilience and Food Security” project. It was officially launched by Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy Ali Shareef.
The programme aims to build resiliency against the impacts of climate change on the environment and support environmentally friendly and sustainable practices to strengthen food security.
The programme is expected to encourage innovation and new digital tools, and support sustainable income opportunities linked to environmental protection. It will be implemented in collaboration with SME Digital and the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources.
Speaking at the event, Minister Ali Shareef said private enterprises play an important role in enhancing the capacity to overcome the impacts of climate change and ensuring sustainable development. The matching grant scheme will support food and water security, digitalisation, and other prioritised areas, he said.
The main objective of the programme is to remove the financial barriers to implementing innovative ideas and to provide necessary financial support to individuals, organisations, innovative youth and women, as well as small and medium enterprises.
