A Maldives Embassy has been established in Türkiye yesterday.
The embassy is located in Ankara, the capital city of Türkiye. It was officially opened yesterday by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Khaleel and Türkiye's Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, as well as Maldives Ambassador to Türkiye Lieutenant General Retired Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef.

Foreign Minister Khaleel stated that the establishment of this embassy is a historical step forward in further strengthening relations between the two countries.
The ministry said that the embassy will contribute towards strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations, and will work towards implementing Maldives' foreign policy and providing consular services to Maldivians.
Minister Khaleel noted the importance of having an embassy established where Maldivians living in the country can easily access it. He said that the embassy would work towards strengthening people to people relations and to promote Maldivian culture and economic prosperity.
Türkiye's Minister Ersoy also highlighted that collaboration between the countries in the fields of education, tourism, culture, and economy have also further strengthened over the past days.
