Former Defence Minister Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim was summoned to Police regarding the case of discovering dangerous weaponry at his residence.
Former Minister Nazim was reportedly summoned to the Police for questioning on Saturday evening.
Though no further information were unfolded، Police Media Official said Nazim was summoned to the authority to take his statement regarding a case under Police investigation.
It is unclear if he used or not the right of silence during the questioning as Vaguthu has been unable to contact Minister Nazim to get a statement from him regarding his summoning to the Police.
Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim was dismissed from his position on January 20، following the alleged discovery of dangerous weaponry at his residence by the Police during a raid on January 18.
Photos of a handgun، bullets and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was shown to the media by the Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed in a press briefing on the Police operation conducted to search Minister Nazim’s residence.
However، the allegation of Minister Nazim possessing dangerous weaponry was denied by minister’s laywers’ team. The lawyers have stated the dangerous weaponry claimed to be found by the Police are not associated with minister Nazim or his family.
