The Islamic Centre established in H.A. Dhidhdhoo was inaugurated today.

The centre was inaugurated today around 11:30 AM at a ceremony by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed. Following the inauguration, Shaheem led the Friday prayer at the Islamic Centre.
The centre has been developed to include a mosque, an Islamic library, a branch of the Holy Quran Centre, a multi-purpose hall, five classrooms, a seminar room, an office building, and a pantry.
The Islamic Centre established in Dhidhdhoo is named after the island’s martyr, Shaheed Umar Ahmed, who was martyred on November 3 while serving as an employee of the Islamic Centre in Malé.
The Islamic Ministry stated that the Dhidhdhoo Islamic Centre was opened after all facilities were established and completed. The Ministry also mentioned that a lift has been installed to provide ease and convenience for those using the Islamic Centre.
“This project has been rapidly advanced and inaugurated as part of the special priority given by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the current government to advancing projects in the Islamic sector,” the Ministry of Islamic Affairs stated.
The government had previously stated that the total cost for this project, which was contracted to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction in May 2023, would be MVR 50.8 million.
