His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended heartfelt condolences to the Southeast Asian nations, following the devastating weather conditions in the region.
In a message on his official X account, the President stated that Maldives mourns the loss of lives and the destruction across Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, describing the catastrophic weather impacts in Southeast Asia as a tragic reminder of escalating climate change.
He also expressed profound sorrow over the tragic fire in Hong Kong that has claimed multiple lives, extending condolences to the President of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Xi Jinping, the government, and the families of the victims.
President Dr Muizzu commended the bravery of the rescue teams responding to the crises, adding that Maldives stands in solidarity with everyone affected.
