We are startled by Home Minister’s reaction to the recitation conducted – MDP

Home Minister urging to take actions against the recitation conducted on Friday for the freedom and any harm that may occur to the Former President Nasheed after the Friday prayers، is a startling statement، stated MDP.
The statement was made in a statement issued by MDP.
In the preceding Fridays، several of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) members had gathered outside Islaamee Marukazu and recited a special prayer to grant their leader، and Ex-President Mohamed Nasheed freedom and protection. In the recitation، MDP’s lead activists also participated.
Following the above incident، Umar had tweeted stating that “Mosques and its surrounding prayer areas must not be used to make political statements. Police must take action against this”.
The statement issued by MDP stated that “MDP conducted a prayer for the protection of all Muslims and the distress by the unlawful cruel acts imposed on Former President and MDP’s President Mohamed Nasheed and other individuals” and “Home Minister urging to not to use Mosques for such and impose actions against such”  is a startling statement.
MDP further stated that cruel acts are forbidden in Islam and recitation of prayers is indeed necessary for stopping of such acts and asserted that the mosques are the holy place to conduct prayers.
The statement indicate that urging for taking actions for the prayers took place in holy mosque where a nation of Muslims live، has taken the brutality of the regime to the next level.
