Foreign Ministry denies allegations against Minister Dunya

Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday has denied all the politically motivated allegations directed towards Minister of Foreign Affairs Dunya Maumoon.
In reference with Minister Dunya، statement released by Foreign Ministry on Sunday stated that Dunya Maumoon wishes to clarify any confusion created by the media reporting on her responses at the Parliament Sitting on 5 November 2014.
“The Minister notes that she mentioned، in response to a question from an MP، that the Government of India had welcomed the recent visit of the Chinese President His Excellency Xi Jinping to India، and that various discussions had taken place between the countries on a wide range of issues.”  the Statement stated.
“She noted her concern if her choice of words had led to any confusion.” statement continues.
The Statement concluded stating، “The Minister had used this example to highlight the continued excellent relationship between the India and China.”
MDP demanded the resignation of Minister Dunya in their statement released on Saturday night condemning Minister Dunya’s wrong statement in the Parliament Sitting on Wednesday regarding India’s involvement in China’s proposed 21st Century Maritime Silk Route Project.
Minister Dunya has said in her statement in the Parliament Sitting on Wednesday that our neighbours، Sri Lanka and India، have also joined China’s proposed MSR project. She also said that، during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India، the two countries have discussed regarding the Silk Route project، and that the neighbouring countries have welcomed the proposed project by China.
Indian High Commission in Maldives have also denied Foreign Minister’s claims. In a press statement released on Friday، Indian High Commission said، in reference with Sayyed Akbaruddin، Spokesperson for External Affairs of India، that India has not agreed to take part in the China’s proposed Silk Route project، and no negotiations have taken place between two countries regarding the matter.
