Velana International Airport Advances with Aeronautical Message System Upgrade

Velana International Airport (VIA) announces a major stride in technological advancement with the successful upgrade of its Aeronautical Message Handling System (AMHS).
This development underscores VIA’s dedication to remaining a pioneer in cutting-edge technology within the realm of air navigation services.
The AMHS, designed as a state-of-the-art platform, assumes a critical role in facilitating the seamless exchange of aeronautical information among stakeholders engaged in flight operations, air navigation services, and airport operations. Notable details communicated through this system encompass flight plans, NOTAM (Notice to Airmen), and meteorological updates.
This transformative upgrade signifies a departure from manual processes, automating tasks such as flight plan approvals and filing procedures through a secure internet network. Developed in-house at VIA, this integration represents an investment of approximately USD 500,000 and is facilitated by IDS AirNav, a globally recognized leader in AMHS services. IDS AirNav has additionally contributed significantly by providing consultancy and training for Maldives aoports comany limited (MACL) staff.
The adoption of AMHS reaffirms MACL’s unwavering commitment to advancing air navigation services, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring the resolute safety of air navigation services. This crucial service will be administered by Maldives National Air Traffic Services (MNATS), the primary air service provider in the Maldives and a subsidiary company of MACL.
