USD 200,000 grant approved for climate-resilient education

A grant of USD 200,000 has been approved by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) to support efforts in strengthening climate resilience within the education sector.
According to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development, the initiative will support the development of a climate-adaptive education system capable of withstanding and recovering from climate-related shocks and natural disasters. It will be implemented under GPE’s Climate Smart Education Systems (CSES) technical initiative, led by the Education Ministry, in collaboration with UNESCO and Save the Children Australia. The project will run until May 2027.
The CSES programme focuses on four key areas, including climate finance access, curriculum and teacher development, school infrastructure resilience, as well as data and planning systems.
This initiative builds on ongoing efforts under the Transforming Education (THAIBHA) programme, which is also supported by GPE, and continues to advance sector-wide education development and resilience planning.
