Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said that the most number of Quran memorizers will be graduated this year.
Dr. Shaheem said that at least there will be 10 Quran memorizers graduating this year. “Most of them are children. I am very happy and proud to have children who have memorized the Quran in Maldives,” he said.
Dr. Shaheem sad that the Islamic ministry gives special priority and importance to create Quran memorizers. He said that the program to create 500 Quran memorizers organized by the Islamic Ministry has been so far very successful.
“This has been under hiatus for long. Memorizing Quran has been something some people do personally there has been no national effort by the government in the recent years. However this government tool this initiative,” he said.
Dr. Shaheem said that the increase in the Quran memorizers in the Maldives will bring an end to the efforts to bring foreign Quran memorizers to pray the Taraweeh prayer during the month of Ramadan.
