"Until a minister is appointed health sector will be under my watch" – President

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Wednesday said that until a Minister of Health is appointed to the Ministry، the health sector will be under his watch and guidance.
During the opening ceremony of PPM “Hiyaa Jagaha” in Addu City Hithadhoo، President highlighted the obstacles and problems within the health sector and that he understands that people blames the President in power at that time.
Therefore، he would like to actively participate to resolve the downfalls in the health sector، President said.

“We have tried appointing ministers to the Health and they have faced difficulties in resolving the problems. So، I have decided to bring the health sector under my watch، until a suitable Minister is appointed.” President Yameen said.
The former Minister of Health Dr. Shakeela put many efforts to eradicate the problems in the sector، but she could not bear the massive obstacles، highlighted President Yameen.
President Yameen said that he is aware of the problems in Hithadhoo Hospital and confirmed that it will soon be solved and the Hospital will be developed.

“Addu City Hithadhoo has the largest hospital in Maldives، second to Male’ hospitals. During the fixations in the health ministry، the problems in the Hithadhoo Hospital will also be solved.” President assured the people of Addu City Hithadhoo.
Meanwhile earlier this week، Ministry of Health has signed contracts with two companies to renovate Hithadhoo Regional Hospital.
