The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences at the Maldives National University (MNU) has opened enrollment for two six-month courses aimed at building skilled professionals for the country’s fisheries sector. Applications for the August intake will remain open until August 5.
The courses offered are the National Certificate 3 in Fishing Guiding and the National Certificate 1 in Fish Processing and Quality Control. The Fishing Guiding program will be held at MNU campuses in Thinadhoo and Kulhudhuffushi City, while the Fish Processing and Quality Control course will take place at the Male’ campus.
The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences was established in August 2024 under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration as part of efforts to modernize the fishing industry. This institution fulfills the legal mandate to provide educational opportunities in fisheries and aims to develop a generation of educated, skilled, and talented youth for the sector.
