"Laam Atoll Link Road project will commence in next month" – Minister

Under the Chinese aid، the Link Road project in Laam Atoll will officially commence in the next month، said Minister of Housing and Infrastructure، Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
In a press briefing held at Housing Ministry on Sunday، Minister told press that a contractor have been assigned for the project، who has informed that necessary equipment for the project will be brought to Maldives within the next month.
He said Ministry will clear the trees and coconut palms in the area and pay the debt of it.
“Contractors have confirmed they will officially start the project in the next month when they bring the necessary equipment. Government will clear the land area and pay the debt of trees and coconut palms which will be cleared.” Minister said.
The project to connect Laam Fonadhoo and Laam Gan with 15.1km long road is constructed by Jinagsu Provincial Transport Engineering Group under the aid of Chinese Government. It has been informed the road will be asphalted and built with the latest developments.
The Laam Atoll Link Road Project was inaugurated by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the Chinese President Xi Jinping.
