Minister of Foreign Affairs، Dunya Maumoon has paid a courtesy call on the newly elected President of Sri Lanka، Maithripala Sirisena.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported، during the Call Foreign Minister conveyed greetings and congratulations to President Sirisena and his team from President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the sincere best wishes of the people of Maldives to the Sri Lankan people. Minister Dunya also expressed admiration for the decisive election victory and the smooth democratic process.
Discussions also focused on how the two Governments could work together in further advancing the existing close bilateral ties، Foreign Ministry reported.

Minister Dunya Maumoon further assured the Government of Sri Lanka that  Maldives will always value its friendship with Sri Lanka and that the ties between two countries will undoubtedly enhance further in the days ahead.
Minister Dunya also met with the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka، Ranil Wickremesinghe، on Saturday.
The Call was also participated by the Minister at the President’s Office Mohamed Hussain Shareef and the High Commissioner of Maldives in Sri Lanka Zahiya Zareer.
