Former Defence Minister wife’s passport seized

The passport of the former Defence Minister Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim’s wife has been seized.
An official of the Immigration has confirmed that the passport of Minister Nazim’s wife has been seized. The passport of Minister Nazim has also been seized in last January.
Former minister and his wife were reportedly scheduled to leave the country before their passports were seized by the authorities.
 
Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim was dismissed from his position on January 20، following the alleged discovery of dangerous weaponry at his residence by the Police during a raid on January 18.
Photos of a handgun، bullets and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was shown to the media by the Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed in a press briefing on the Police operation conducted to search Minister Nazim’s residence.
However، the allegation of Minister Nazim possessing dangerous weaponry was denied by minister’s laywers’ team. The lawyers have stated the dangerous weaponry claimed to be found by the Police are not associated with minister Nazim or his family.
Following the dismissal of Mohamed Nazim، President Yameen appointed former Chief of Defence Force، Major General (Retired) Moosa Ali Jaleel as the Defence Minister.
