Home Minister Umar Naseer has said that the Male’ City Council has tried to display their authority by challenging the policies of the government planting areca palms in Male’.
Speaking at the news conference held yesterday, the Home Minister said that planting trees and greening Maldives is not from the responsibilities of the City Council but it should be done with a permit from the Housing Ministry.
Home Minister said that the City council opposed the directive of the Housing Ministry and challenged the policies of the government.
He said that policies are made by the government and not the city council. He said that the role of the city council is to implement the policies of the government.
