Minister of Foreign Affairs Dunya Maumoon met with her counterpart of India، Minister of External Affairs of India، Ms. Sushma Swaraj on Monday night.
The meeting was held at Hulhule Island Hotel during Minister Sushma’s transit visit to Maldives.
Minister Dunya expressed appreciation for the continued support and cooperation from Government of India، during the meeting. She highlighted the swift response by the Government of India to the Maldives during the incident of 3rd November 1988 being marked as Victory Day on Monday by the Maldives.
During the discussions، Ministers raised issues of mutual concern، particularly on issues pertaining to economic and defence cooperation.
Minister Dunya further reiterated her invitation to Minister Sushma Swaraj to make an official visit to Maldives at the earliest to enhance further cooperation between the two countries.
Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large Ahmed Mohamed، Foreign Secretary Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed، Joint Secretaries Farzana Zahir and Aishath Azeema، and Indian Ambassador to Maldives Mr. Rajheev Shahare، partook in the meeting.
