We were clear in our statements- Maumoon Hameed

Leading attorney of the legal team of the former Defence Minister Colonel (retired) Mohamed Nazim, Maumoon Hameed has said that the team was very clear in their statements and did not make any statements to confuse the public regarding the case.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Maumoon Hameed said that the information given in the last news conference were actually information that should have been publicized by the Police and the Prosecutor General themselves.
He said that he shared the information with the public on behalf of Colonel Nazim because the Police and the Prosecutor General failed to undertake that responsibility.
“We believe that they should inform the public that the prints found on the evidences did not match with the prints of Nazim and his family member. They should also inform the public regarding the finger prints found on the evidences,” he said.
Maumoon said that the people were anticipating for the forensic results as soon as the Police informed the public that they found weapons in the residence of Nazim.
“I have stated that they found what they found. I have stated that they got what they got. I do not believe that this will cause any undue influence on the trial. This will not cause any damage whatsoever. If it does anything it will do only good,” he said.
Regarding the statement of the PG, Maumoon Hameed said that “the PG is the plaintiff and Nazim is the defendant, therefore the plaintiff will try to intimidate the defendant.”
In view of the rumours that Maumoon Hameed is going to leave the legal team at the request of his father, he said that those who spread such rumours do not know the reality of his family.
“My father encouraged me when I joined the legal team of Colonel Nazim. I am going forward upon his guidance and upbringing. Our family loves justice and fairness,” he said.
