A tourist has been found dead underwater near Robinson Club Resort in Noonu atoll, reports Maldives Police Service (MPS).
The body of a 45-year-old Chinese national was pulled out of the water and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital in Noonu atoll.
This comes at a time there has been a hike in tourist deaths in the Maldives.
The body of a 20-year-old Maldivian was also found 30 meters underwater earlier on Wednesday.
Following the hike in tourist deaths, Tourism Ministry conducted an inspection following which Minister Ali Waheed revealed that they had not found any negligence or misconduct on anyone’s part.
