Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said that the Zakat fund has been increasing its capability to help the needy and the poor.
Dr. Shaheem made this remark at the ceremony held at the Islamic Center to hand over filters to Thalassemia patients.
He said that this is a 2 million Ruffiya project initiated by the Zakat fund to help Thalassemia patients in the Maldives.
Dr. Shaheem said that each filter costs about MVR 10000 and therefore there will be many patients who will find it difficult to gather that amount.
He noted that some families have more than one Thalassemia patients. “Therefore it will be a big burden for many parents,” he said.
Dr. Shaheem said that these filters are brought from abroad and today fifty patients were granted the filters. He said that more patients will be granted filters in the future.
He said that this project will provide filter to all Thalassemia patients in Maldives that require such filters.
