Raid on residence of Defence Minister should be explained to the public- MDP

Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) has issued concern regarding the government for not disclosing information of the recent raid of the police conducted on the residence of the defence minister Mohamed Nazim.
In a press statement issued by MDP, the party stated that the Police conducting a search operation at the residence of the Defence Minister during the middle of the night by forcing open the door of the apartment cannot be taken as a trivial issue.
The party stated that generally the court will issue such a warrant to force open the door to search a place only when the crime is serious and when enough evidences are provided.
“The gravity of the case is even much more serious when the person alleged or suspected with crime is the Defence Minister,” the party stated.
