Under the Government’s venture to repair old ones and construct new harbors، the projects kicked off in this year have completed Harbor Projects of 15 islands، says Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Answering a question presented by a member of a Parliament، during the Parliament session on Tuesday، Minister Muizzu said harbor projects of 15 islands have been completed and currently 30 projects are in progress.
Minister was asked the progress of A.A. Himandhoo habor project by Mathivaru Constituency Lawmaker Hussain Mohamed.
Minister said the paper works of harbor design and tender documents of the harbor have already been sent to the Tender Board of Finance Ministry in August this year.
“Housing Ministry’s work will resume as soon as tender process completes and the project is awarded to a contractor. Hence، as soon as the project is awarded to a contractor، the work will start immediately.” Minister said.
He further said the the projects faces financial difficulties as to cut down Government Expenses، certain projects are withheld، even though the Harbor Projects’ expenses are included in the budget every year. However، he said، Government has given extra courtesy to complete the harbor projects.
