The Ministry of Higher Education, Skills Development and Labor Relations has announced that over 1 billion rufiyaa has been disbursed to students under the Student Loan Scheme from 2024 to date.
According to ministry data, 1.065 billion rufiyaa has been released since last year, including 365.27 million rufiyaa so far in 2025. In total, 1,226 students have received loans since 2024, 560 male and 666 female. Of these, 396 students received loans this year alone, including 153 male and 243 female.
The Ministry also highlighted that 368 million rufiyaa has been allocated for scholarships during this period. Meanwhile, 267 million rufiyaa has been spent on first degree studies for 4,469 students since 2024, with 116 million rufiyaa supporting 1,687 students so far this year.
Enrollment figures show that since 2024, 2,806 female students and 1,663 male students have registered for first-degree programs. To date, 5,579 students have graduated, including 2,237 graduates in 2025 alone. Currently, 8,330 students are pursuing their first degrees.
