His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu was granted an audience with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, at the Sheraton Doha Hotel today.
During the audience, President Dr Muizzu conveyed his condolences over the fatalities caused by the recent Israeli attack on Qatar and reaffirmed the Maldives’ strong solidarity with the Government and people of Qatar. He condemned the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and expressed full support for its efforts to uphold regional peace and stability.
President Dr Muizzu commended Qatar’s leadership in convening the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit and recognised its continued contributions towards mediation efforts and humanitarian support for Palestine.
The two leaders also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across a wide range of fields of mutual interest. President Dr Muizzu expressed his gratitude to the Amir for Qatar’s ongoing support for the Maldives in numerous areas.
In conclusion, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening Maldives–Qatar relations and underscored the importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah. They reiterated their shared commitment to uphold international law and to pursue a just and peaceful two-state solution in support of the Palestinian people’s struggle for sovereignty and self-determination.
