United States Assistant Trade Representative for Central and South Asia, Mr. Michael J. Delaney called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dunya Maumoon.
The call held this afternoon at the Foreign Ministry after the conclusions of the First Trade Talks between the Republic of Maldives and the United State of America.
Minister Dunya expressed satisfaction over the successful conclusion of the First Trade Talks between the Maldives and United States and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries including in the areas of trade and investment.
Minister Dunya also noted the decision during the Talks to work together to increase Maldives fish exports to US by 2018.
Delaney expressed his satisfaction over the successful outcome of the Talks and also expressed his commitment to working with the Government of Maldives in further strengthening the economic ties between the two countries. He also noted that the US Government will continue to provide technical support and expertise to the Maldives in all areas, to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two courtiers
The meeting was attended by Ahmed Mohamed, Ambassador At-Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs,. Ali Naseer Mohamed, Foreign Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Fathimath Inaya, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The First Trade Talks between the Republic of Maldives and the United States of America was held this morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Maldives delegation was led by Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Economic Development and the US delegation was led by today United States Assistant Trade Representative for Central and South Asia, Michael J. Delaney.
