The former Presidents of Maldives، Maumoon Abdul Gayoom، Mohamed Nasheed and Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik have all congratulated the new President-elect of Sri Lanka، Maithiripala Sirisena on his victory in Presidential Elections of Sri Lanka.
In tweets they posted، the three former Presidents have conveyed their best wishes to the Sirisena on his victory against President Rajapaksa in the Elections held on Thursday، in Sri Lanka.

In addition، Ministry of Foreign Affairs have stated that Maldives commends the the people of Sri Lanka for exemplary democratic exercise and peaceful transfer of power.
Maithripala Sirisena competed against President Mahinda Rajapaksa and won with 51% to 47%، with nearly 500،000 votes in difference.
The former Minister of Health in President Rajapaksa’s cabinet will take the Oath of Office at 18:30 local time on Friday evening، at the Independent Square، Sri Lanka.
