Jumhooree Party Leader, Gasim Ibrahim has said that his government will give the subsidies removed and decrease the taxes increased the current government.
Gasim Ibrahim made this remark speaking at last night’s rally held by Jumhooree Party and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Gasim said that the electricity subsidy given by the government since long will now be given to a particular group of people. “With the submission of that form only a few will get it,” he said.
He said that none of the subsidies promised to the fishermen and farmers are granted up until today.
Gasim said that he was forced to come out to the streets for the sake of the people because of this. He said that the government is making the people suffer from all walks of life.
He said that the government is depriving the people of their rights and enslaving them.
“I am here because the government is destroying the independent institutions. I am here because the government is destroying justice. I am here because the basic rights are being deprived from the people,” he said.
Gasim said that PPM have been calling councilors and telling them to join PPM if they want to develop their islands.
“Are we living in a dictatorship or a multi-party democracy?”he said.
