MNDF Coastguard reports it has launched a search and rescue operation following the disappearance of a man who dove into the waters to the south of N. Manadhoo to pick up sea cucumbers this Wednesday.
MNDF’s information officer, Ibrahim Azim reports the missing man is one of two men who dove into the waters in search of cucumber.
The missing man has been identified as Mohamed Shavin.
A team from the Coastguard has been dispatched to find and rescue the man.
Coastguard also launched a search and rescue operation to find another man who went missing under similar circumstances off the coast of R. Vandhoo. Abdulla Adam, 32, from Fehihiyaage, R. Dharavandhoo, was found in the uninhabited island, R. Dhikkurendhoo, and his being transported to Dhuvaafaru.
