Maldivian flight lands back at Velana International Airport due to engine trouble

A Maldivian flight that took off to Trivandrum, India from Velana International Airport (VIA) has turned around and landed back at VIA due to engine troubles.
In a post on social media X, Maldivian announced that this afternoon's flight to Trivandrum has been cancelled due to technical issues.
Our flight Q2700 from MLE to TRV returned to MLE due to a technical issue. The flight is cancelled until further notice. We apologize for any disruptions. Our teams are working hard to restore service. Thank you for your patience and understanding.— MaldivianAero (@MaldivianAero) June 23, 2024
The flight was cancelled after it returned to VIA a little while after taking off.
Maldivian parent company Island Aviation's Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas told Mihaaru that the Airbus flight had had to return to Male' a short duration into the trip due to facing engine troubles.
However, he dismissed rumours that the engine had caught fire, and assured that no such complications had occurred.
Maldivian apologized for any inconveniences that the cancellation may pose to passengers.
